Meet Our Esteemed Speakers

Lois Thiessen Derksen

Trinitarian Theology and the Therapy Room: How the Trinity provides the necessary relief to counter co-dependence, narcissistic behaviours and enmeshment.

Lois brings a unique perspective of theology and psychology. It was after writing her thesis in Trinitarian theology and holistic discipleship that she began to understand the deep implications for both her interpersonal journey and pastoral work. The integrative journey of rooted theology became an organic segue to psychotherapy. The intersection of these two disciplines provides Lois a unique way of supporting her clients in deeply healthy attachments.

Cory Seibel

The Generationally Intelligent Counsellor

Cory Seibel operates Daybreak Counselling in Edmonton and teaches in the Psychotherapy and Spirituality program at St. Stephen’s College. He has an MA in counselling from Central Seminary and has undertaken doctoral studies in counselling through Washington University of Virginia. Cory also earned two degrees in practical theology, an MTh from Spurgeon’s College and a PhD from the University of Pretoria. Prior to becoming a therapist, Cory spent nearly three decades as a pastor and seminary professor. He has published three books and numerous articles on intergenerational dynamics, presented widely on this topic, and previously chaired the
international InterGenerate Conference.

Candace Maxymowich

Parts and the Presence of God: Integrating Internal Family Systems as a Christian Therapist

Candace Maxymowich has obtained a Doctor of Ministry, a Master of Divinity, and a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology. Her life as a Christian includes the professional role she embodies as a therapist. Candace seeks to support clients to heal from traumatic experiences and find freedom to live the abundant life to which they are called. As an EMDR Trained Therapist and IFS (Level 2) Therapist, these approaches form the basis of the therapeutic work she engages in. Candace offers a compassionate and collaborative approach where all parts are welcome.
